I received my Gen 3 controller a couple weeks ago; I waited until I had a full afternoon to install and configure it (replacing a Gen 1 controller). The installation was smooth and flawless. The Gen 3 connected immediately to my WiFi, and transference of the Gen 1 settings was quick and accurate. Total time spent was a bit over 30 minutes, including an ops check of my 6 zones. I certainly did not need an entire afternoon to install. So well done to the Rachio team – I am a happy customer; and I am looking forward to an equally smooth install of the flow-meter when it arrives!
